Mary Wine Web Site Review

Using a theme that plays on the author’s last name, Mary Wine’s website is easy to use with warm colors that do not strain the eye. In my previous website explorations, I have found that, depending on the computer being used, some of the font will fade into the background, making the site more difficult to navigate through. This is definitively not the case with the design of Mary Wine’s site. The home page layout includes all the author’s book releases, listed in chronological order of release with descriptions and their corresponding book covers. Located at the bottom of the page, as well as along the left hand side of the screen, are several links to other areas within the website.

The theme is quite humorous, focusing in one the word “Wine” from the author’s last name. The left hand side of the screen has such Wine-related links as “Newly Bottled” and “Connoisseur Reviews” which give the site both a sophisticated feel as well as an amusing touch. All the buttons work, however, several of the pages are blank with no information present. It appears that this is due to the author’s status of being a comparatively new writer with little data available for presentation but it is somewhat distracting to have links with no viewable data to be found.

An unusual touch is the forum found within these WebPages. This section allows thread-style postings with entries by the author as well as reader impressions. The colors of this section are somewhat glaring with bright reds and pinks but does provide an easy to use format for reading and posting. This added bonus allows readers to ask the author questions or comment on their favorite books and characters, as well as receive thoughts by other authors and booklovers.

Overall, this easy to use website with calm and warm colors is nicely developed with no annoying pop-ups or distracting graphics. The clean and clear focus of the design makes the visit both comfortable and enjoyable. The theme is a classic and humorous play on words that provides a warm touch to Ms. Wine’s site. Although there did not seem to be much information within the pages, what I did find was informative and interesting with quickly loading pages and no problems in the navigation. The forum is a nice touch for anyone wanting to post their comments or contact other readers of this talented author’s novels. I enjoyed the timeless presentation of this website and look forward to seeing further updates within Mary Wine’s website
