When Lora Leigh stumbled upon a different breed of man in the mountains near her home, little did she know what she would discover as she began her investigation into the lives of these genetically altered humans. Born into a life worse than slavery, bred to be the perfect killer, tormented as children and into adulthood, the genetic experiments of the Genetics Council created something they never dreamt of. They created strong, honorable people. Of the many breeds they created, the Feline Breeds have always been dear to her heart. Now, she examines the life of Taber Williams in his biography, The Man Within. Laying his life bare before us, Lora examines his heart and strength of character that could only be born of nightmares, torture and pain. Not an animal, not a shapeshifter, but a man. A man also capable of great love, as amazing as it is after the life he has led. He is the perfect subject for an interview geared toward ladies who love erotic romance. He is romance. Recently, I was very fortunate that I had the opportunity to sit down with Taber and ask him some questions. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. *sigh* Without further ado Feline Breed, Taber Williams… *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Hi Taber, and thank you so much for granting JERR a few moments of your time. Thank you Amber for inviting me. As always, the Feline Breeds are at your service. *sigh* How many different species of Feline Breeds are there? So far, we’ve counted five different breeds. Lion, Cougar, Black Jaguar, Bengal, and snow cat. There are rumors though of Leopards. Currently, we have several Feline’s investigating this rumor. Does a Feline Breed have any special psychic abilities that humans don’t have? Do you have any other type of “powers” like a shape shifter might? We have a highly developed sixth sense, though not psychic per se. Which isn’t to say that some of us aren’t psychic? We are, for all intents and purposes human. The added DNA reveals itself differently in each person. Those differences are sometimes frightening, even to that particular breed. As I understand it, Lora is still extensively researching each and every characteristic, both well known and elusive, of the many breeds that the Genetics Council created. I’m certain those differences will be revealed as the series progresses. Do the Feline’s have a close association with the Wolf and other Breeds? As this particular time. No. But it is something our Liaisons, Tanner
and Cabal, are working on as well as the Tyler family. In your story, Ms. Leigh gives us few details about your life before you met Roni, could you give us a little glimpse into your childhood? What was it like growing up under the control of the Council? It was horrifying. I sit here now, thinking of this and I feel my chest tighten in pain. I watched brothers die because they weren’t strong enough to fulfill the physical requirements of our keepers. I watched many taken to the examination rooms, never to return. Their screams haunt my nightmares. Lora hasn’t yet delved into the more painful aspects of our upbringing, as I’m certain its something she feels needs to be approached at the right time. In the right manner. We’ve discussed this quite a bit. She knows the horrors we’ve encountered, the trials we faced, and she knows that bringing it out, in stark terms, would only cause us to relive the pain in ways we try desperately to avoid. But in the next books, she will be dealing more with the events that took place during our confinement.
Callan rescued us. Until he came to the labs we had been unable to find a weakness within our prison that would allow us to escape. He created the weakness. He got us out of there. I met Roni, weeks after our escape. She was such a tiny thing. All long legs and big blue eyes. She broke my heart, huddled there in the darkness, fighting her terror, fighting the reality that she, a child, could find no protection, no security in her world. I wanted only to give her that security, that protection. To make certain she never faced even a measure of the pain and brutality I had.
(sigh) It won’t be easy. Some will accept us conditionally. Others never will. I don’t have the answer to this one Amber. I wish I did. Already, I’ve faced things I hoped to never see. Fear in a child’s eyes when confronted with us. In the adults when they must deal with us. I just don’t know. But I know the time will come when it must be faced. Doing so will be one of our most difficult obstacles.
I’m sitting here
shaking my head. If I had any modesty, I guess I would be blushing.
J Feline Breeds have very little modesty though.
Just between me and you, I think its one of the things Lora likes most
about us. There has been much talk about the sexual prowess of a Breed male of any species; the Feline Breed male has long been rumored to have similar characteristics to large cats complete with a barbed cock. Can you confirm or deny that rumor, and can you confirm or deny the rumor of the Feline Breed male secreting a lubricating substance so that he never needs a tube of LUBE? Ahh. The Barb. Yes. I can
confirm that rumor. The male Feline Breeds have an extension that
becomes erect during sex with our mates. But
only with our mates. This isn’t something that occurs until the
biological, chemical and emotional variances of mating have been attained.
Dr. Martins could explain this more fully.
The practice of anal sex is a response within the feline or wolf breed, to create the ultimate sexual submission of a mate. Some Feline breeds have a more advance animalistic response to heated confrontations with their mates. Some less so. I think, for Roni and I, it was a matter of coming together well sexually, it was the emotional we had to conquer. I had no reason to further prove my sexual dominance over her. Though this could come later, I had no doubt. Our battle was in my acceptance, perhaps, of who and what I was in relation to my relationship with her. That didn’t require the ultimate dominance over her sexuality; so much as it required dominance over her heart.
Above all else? Her innocence. Her faith in me and in herself. Her confidence in herself as a woman, and as my woman. I love her laughter, her spirit. I love her sense of humor and her ability to calm my soul. I love everything about her.
There’s something to dislike?
Candlelight and me buried as deep inside her as I can get. Now there’s romance.
Her family. Her true family. Despite her assurances that she’s fine not knowing, I can see that need inside her. I would like to give her the gift of her own family, if that’s possible.
Rain and Roni breathing as she sleeps against my chest.
The sound of a whip cracking
Now Amber. You’re a lady. Some words a man only says to himself
“Welcome” At least, this is what I tell myself. They broke the laws of nature in creating us. I only pray its not held against us.
